Carter powers to victory

Monday 29th April 2013

by Dan Smith

Last weekend saw Rob Carter taking his second win of the year in the Teasdale CRC 40.5m  Hilly Time Trial.  Rob has recently been showing the kind of form that took him to top 30 in the National Road Race Champs in 2011.  He won the event by 4 minutes from Joel Wainman and Jon Sturman (2nd and 3rd respectively).  Fourth placed time trial legend Keith Murray finished in 4th place at 8min 04sec.

The weekend was not quite so successful for other members of the team…

Chris Wood took a fall in the same event that was won by Rob Carter, losing a fair amount of skin.  Fortunately there was no serious damage done to either rider or machine.

Mark Lawrence was also in the wars with a spectacular flight over his handlebars when avoiding riding over someone who had already crashed.  He was able to get back on and finish the race, but not able to pull a result out of the bag.

Currently out of action are Dan Smith and Mike Smart with back injuries, Mike Guymer who is recovering from illness and Martin Axon who is sitting his exams at university.

Hopefully things will start to go right soon enough for a strong middle to end of the season!

Next weekend sees Pete Boyes take to the start-line for the Nigel Meason Memorial 2 Day Stage Race in Leicestershire.
